Rodrigo Carvalho
Professor Rodrigo Carvalho is a 5rd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has been training for over twenty five years, starting at age 11 at Alliance Gym under Octavio Couto and Vinicius Compelo. Alliance’s (Akxe BJJ).
In 2002 Professor Rodrigo achieved black belt. His passion for teaching started years before - as a purple belt, when he became an instructor at the now renamed Fight For A Kid Jiu Jitsu.
In 2007 Professor Rodrigo brought Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to Slovenia and the surrounding countries of Croatia and Northern Italy.
After that, for the next 4 years he trained hundreds of students, until one day received a call with the opportunity of a lifetime. Bas Rutten had invited him to head the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy Thousand Oaks, CA.
Professor Rodrigo has held several Brazilian Jiu Jitsu titles: 3 time Brazilian State Champion and NAGA Black Belt Champion.
As the head Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructor at Bas Rutten’s Elite MMA, Professor Rodrigo continues to train children and adults of all ages. His goal of building confidence and strength in all of his students. Rodrigo's dying passion, commitment and love for a sport that has shaped him into the globally respected man he is today.
In addition, Professor Rodrigo Carvalho has another passion - "Fight for a kid social project".
Rodrigo is the president of the "Fight for a kid" foundation, that helps other charities in Brazil. With the aim of taking children and teenagers off the street, and creating opportunities with jiu jitsu.
